GIS India - The First Journal on GIS from India / Asia
Appreciating the importance of spatial attribute to information of various types, GeoMap Society (GEMS), a registered non-profit organisation, initiated Map Awareness Programmes in 1992 for students in collaboration with Survey of India (SOI), National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA) and Indian National Cartographic Association (INCA). These have become regular and annual popular programmes in Hyderabad and other places. Launching of the Journal on Geographic Information System (GIS) in January 1992 is a part of this mission.
